As of September 2024, forty-seven U.S. states have legalized medical cannabis, including Kentucky. In 2023, The Governor of Kentucky signed a bill legalizing the use of medical cannabis for its residents with certain medical conditions beginning January 1, 2025. Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) licensed in Kentucky who seek medicinal cannabis prescribing authority may start applying for registration as a Medical Cannabis Practitioner within the state to serve this population in need.

This course will offer a detailed explanation of the new law and the role of the Medical Cannabis Practitioner, including diagnosing and treating qualifying medical conditions.
