Lyme Disease and Chronic Fatigue

Lyme disease can occur when humans are bitten by a tick that carries the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria. Symptoms typically resolve in two to four weeks after antibiotic therapy. Some patients can experience symptoms for longer than six months after infection, which is termed Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS), with the most common symptoms being chronic fatigue, myalgia, and cognitive disturbance.
